We have all heard the saying, “less is more” but in a recent article published by lifescript.com, less is referring to your daily caloric intake and more is referring to your life expectancy! According to Dr. Mao, a lifescript.com contributer, recent studies on centenarians have uncovered an interesting similarity; almost all seem to follow a similar diet. Many of the centenarians participating in the study lived on a modest budget so they ate less than average American and even fasted at times. Studies have shown that animals who have a reduced caloric intake also have a longer life expectancy. Coincidence? Without excess fat the body can ”run” more efficiently and is able to “run” for longer. Makes sence to me, I guess a few simple life changes could increase our chances of joining the centenarian club too!
